Best game ever!Jun 21, 2010 Our whole family enjoys playing Orchard together! I was hesitant to buy it because of the high price tag, but I am so glad that I did. My 3 year old was becoming discouraged at losing every game he played with his big sister. In Orchard, you are all on the same team. You win together and lose together. A beautiful picture of what a family is supposed to be.
We really like that the board itself is of high quality, durable cardboard and the pieces of fruit are wooden, making the game long lasting.
Highly recommended!
GREAT game - my 3 year old requests it all the time!Apr 27, 2010 This is a great game. Great for reviewing colors, learning to take turns rolling the dice, and working together as a team. My daughter LOVES picking up the fruit and laying them on the board. Overall just a huge hit!
Amazing gameMar 15, 2010 We got this game for our three year old's birthday and it is a big hit. He LOVES playing it, we play it many times a day and even we enjoy it. I like that we all win or we all lose since three year olds aren't the best "losers". I could think of couple of improvements though. I would like to see a more sophisticated playing board that would accomodate the raven's puzzle pieces better, at this point, they get lose all the time when a dice runs over them etc. Also, the little wooden fruit pieces have very little flat area to sit them on the board. Larger flat area would take away from the look, but if the board had some sort of inserts to place the fruits in, it would be easier to use. Lastly, the cute wicker baskets are a bit flimsy. After just one day of use, one basket broke its handle somehow. All in all, the best game out there. Well worth the money. I highly recommend it.
Absolutely LOVE itFeb 09, 2010 I am from Germany, and I grew up with so many of the Ravensburger and Haba games and just love them (plus of course they bring back a ton of memories!). I have lived in the States for 11 years and do have my my own children now (a 2 and a 4-year-old daughter), I am ordering games left and right, mostly on Amazon.de. I got this game on Amazon.de as well, and it is one of my kids absolute favorites.
They play it 4+ times in a row, even my 2-year-old (who will be 2 and a half this month). She loves playing it with us.
I LOVE this game, great quality, great concept, not just one player looses, it's either all players loosing together against the raven, or all players winning.
And sometimes the kids games can get a little old if you you are an adult, but this one even my husband can play with the kids without getting bored. :)
The kids excitement is just too much fun too watch. They squeal with excitement when they are about to beat the raven, and they squeal with excitement and worry when the raven gets one puzzle piece after the other ....
Great toy for the whole family! (without commercialization, too!)Feb 01, 2010 We are loving this game. We have a 5 year old and a 3 year old and they play cooperatively with this. Our 3 year old easily grasped the rules and story of the game. We all love that everyone wins together or loses together. The pieces are charming, being made of natural materials (wood for the fruits and reed for the baskets). The kids take care of their game now and I have a feeling that their kids will be playing it someday, too.
