Hard, heavy ballsAug 04, 2010 My son is 11-months-old so he's probably still too young to really play with this, and I do hope that he'll like it eventually. However, the problem that I've had is that he LOVES balls, and these wooden balls are heavy and hard. He carris his little plastic balls all over the place and loves to throw them and even hit himself in the head with them. I had to put these wooden balls away so that he doesn't do the same with them. We also had a problem with him putting them into his playskool ball popper, but luckily we were able to get them back out.
Good for an older kidApr 27, 2010 My son is 15 months and loves to pound on things and loves balls. Perfect. However, I misjudged his motor skills. This toy is just a little too advanced for him at this stage. He gets the pounding on things part of it, but not the pound on this ball and another one pops out part. The balls are loose, so he prefers to just fling them around. Hence, the toy has been put away for 6 months, and then we'll try again.
My husband and I, however, had a lot of fun with it. It's like a mini Whack a Mole. ;) And Plan Toys in general rocks. Solid construction. Beautiful design.
great interactive toyFeb 10, 2010
Eye hand coordination, predictability, color recognition/order and just plain fun are what this toy is about. I recommend it for 18 months- 4 years old.

This is a keeper...Jan 12, 2010 This toy is pretty cool. I bought this for my 9 month old for x-mas - you have a constant stream of balls to pound and my older son likes it - he's 3 - and he played with it for quite a while. I am guessing the 9month old will grow into it, but he's a little young for it at the moment. It's made out of nice wood and seems like the type of toy you could keep around for future kids (or even your kids' kids someday...) - as opposed to cheap plastic toys.

Get a different hammer & ball toy...Oct 14, 2009 My son was about one when we bought this for him. He had zero interest in using it as it is made to be used. The balls were all over (a couple are missing now) and the hammer is mainly used for other things. We thought he would "grow into it," but at two and a half, he still has no interest in it's real function. For around the same price we could have gotten a more interesting Plan ball & hammer toy that he would have enjoyed more.
