Great toys for quieter play times, inside (bad weather) days or when you want the children to play quietly togetherFeb 25, 2010 The Melissa & Doug lacing toys are small enough for young children to handle, but big enough for their hands to manipulate. Excellent design! The shapes are adorable.
They are especially inviting, so much so that I even want to play with them, because they are bright, cheerful and well built, perfect for times when you want the children to have a quiet project they can work on. I bought several so they can work on them together, without getting in the way of each other. Then they can switch and start again. Absolutely perfect for a day when they are stuck inside because of bad weather!
The children learn hand/eye coordination without being `judged' on how they do.
These are wooden, so just like so many of the Melissa & Doug toys, they are built to last, and so much nicer to have around than toys made of cardboard. I love the fact that they don't bend or rip.
Great product! It's a keeper. I recommend this one to be one of the classics.
lacing animalsJan 30, 2010 My two year old son loves getting these out and working the lace through the holes. He will from time to time take a break from sewing and play with the animals for a while. Unlike the cardboard style, these are sturdy and stand against all the rough and tough treatment a toddler is likely to give them.
No lid?Dec 06, 2009 This toy has the same quality you'd expect from Melissa and Doug. Educational in so many ways, well-made, sized for little fingers, etc. I was surprised there wasn't a lid to keep the items contained, hence minus one star. Even so, I would buy again and recommend.
