On the meadow things rustle, squeak and move about. Babies love it and the sounds stimulate their sensory awareness. The lateral sides can be flapped up so that the playing rug changes into a little bed or a nappy changer. The playing gym allows little ones to discover even more! A cloth may be placed over as protection against mosquitos. Squeaker, rustling and glitterfoil pockets included. Material: base and sides of soft solid foam. Removable cover of machine-washable cotton/polyester. Measurements: 120 x 105 cm. Birth+

Beautiful PlayareaAug 25, 2009 But will your child play in it.... My son mostly liked the butterfly. He pulled on some hanging toys for awhile but by the time he could really interact with the rug he was busting out of it. You can take the sides down and make it a run but now that my son is 9 months he is off to other places around the house and will not stay on the rug. It really is pretty and so nice to have a rug with no plastic.

my daughter LOVED thisAug 13, 2009 Our daughter spent hours in her meadow, playing until she fell asleep. She especially loved the froggy on the side (his feet were great for chewing) and the crinkling of the butterfly. Also, you can hang different toys from the cross bar (tie them securely or make sure they're soft/light), so we could change it up when it seemed her interest was waning. I witnessed her discovering her right arm one day when she accidently hit one of the hanging toys and made it swing. She then did it purposefully!
The only drawback is that while it is technically washable (and we had to wash it once or twice), getting all of the side pieces in and out was difficult, despite the zippers, as they fit perfectly. Akin to stuffing couch cushions back in their covers - I broke a sweat. So I recommend keeping a towel under your baby's head to prevent the spit-up problem.
As to the choking hazard thing posted by another reviewer - the only part of the meadow that made me nervous was the finger puppet mouse, which had beads/balls on the ends of its arms. I took it out of the meadow and my daughter never noticed it was missing (how could she? there was so much more to look at and feel!). Otherwise, everything is VERY safe/secure.

Misapplied warningApr 21, 2009 I just did some research on this. This product is not required by the FHSA to post any warnings. The Dream Meadow does not have any small parts or choking hazards. It has not been the subject of any imposed or voluntary recalls. I am not sure why this warning is posted with this product.

Choking hazard warning on a baby product!Apr 07, 2009 Was considering this for my 6 week old twins but will look for something different.
Very concerned to note the choking hazard warning and statement that it isn't suitable for children under 3 years when the description promotes it as a baby product - not a toddler product (and it doesn't look that useful for 3+ year olds).
Either this product has a mistaken choking hazard/age warning or it really just shouldn't be for sale.

best play matOct 07, 2008 this is adorable and so worth the money. totally outdo's any of the play mats you can find in the stores. my baby is only 2 months old and is already intrigued by the frog and butterfly and her first coo's were at the frog, I even found her holding his hand. I know once she gets a little older this will be even greater. most playmats just have a patterned mat that the baby can lay on, but this is great b/c it has sides and the objects on it are all 3D. love love love it
