Lots of Fun for Little OnesAug 04, 2010 We've had no problems with our set, or with any other Melissa & Doug products! I bought this for our 9 mos. old daughter and she loves it. Her favorites are the tambourine, cymbals and the red "clapper."
The maracas aren't terribly loud, but I don't see that as a big negative. Many of the negative reviews for this product cite the thin material on the tambourine. I believe M&D must have replaced this as ours is more akin to plastic than paper. The only way it would "tear" is if you punctured it.
Recommended, although I think $15 would be a more fair price.
Pretty disappointingJul 26, 2010 I love all the Melissa and Doug stuff I have gotten for my 2 year old daughter, so was pretty bummed when this arrived. The maracas are pretty lame (sounds like 3 pieces of rice are inside), the cymbals don't make a very good sound and the quality is sub-par. We have made the best of it and have fun singing funny songs together, but wouldn't buy this again or get it for anyone as a present.
18 months old daredevilJul 26, 2010 I have an 18 month old and 8 yr old girls and of course the baby follows her big sister every where but this time the baby took the lead with the band in a box and they both loved it and continue to play and make noise together.
Great, exceptMay 21, 2010 The tambourine paper top broke within the first two days we had it. The planned on taking the paper off to just let him shake it and I wound up getting cuts on my hand from the jagged edges. Happy I found that out and not my son.
Great set!May 20, 2010 My 3 year old received this for Christmas. Loves it. The instruments are very durable. She has had fun creating parades and sharing with her 4 year old niece. Highly recommend. Tambourine and all other instruments are in great condition 6 months later.
